UNDERSTANDING THE 3 PHASES
OF THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST

Abraham Onosedeba

Whenever you hear men talk about the finished work of Christ, speak of GRACE or about the PAULINE Revelations.  One thing we need to do as believer is to get into the bible like the Bereans did and research before settling with whatever anyone has to say on the subject

Christ’s FINISHED work was in THREE phases…twice he clearly declared he had finished a phase and the third we can infer from the scriptures. Let’s take a look:

  • THE WORK OF SHOWING MEN HOW TO LIVE ETERNAL LIFE IN THE FLESH

Many never allude or acknowledge this aspect of the ministry of Jesus. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (Jn 1:14). Jesus didn’t go straight from the baptism to the cross. Why? Because God wanted him to show unto the men that will be begotten of God how to LIVE the divine life when you are born into God’s family. He was the only BEGOTTEN of the father on the earth at the time. The only one on earth that had divinity at work in humanity. When he was about to go to the cross at the end of the 3 years. This time he had not yet gone to the cross, he had not been buried or risen yet from the dead…yet he said ‘I have glorified thee on the earth: I have FINISHED THE WORK which thou gavest me to do’ (Jn 17:4). Implying that He had FINISHED a phase of the work. He showed us how the DIVINE MAN should LIVE on earth. that the divine man should live above SIN, should demonstrate authority and power over demons. Should be able to heal the sick. cast out devils he made us know that we have the ability to suspend natural laws and impose our will over them in God…that was phase one.

  • THE WORK OF DYING FOR OUR SINS

The second phase of the finished work of Christ is that of becoming the SACRIFICE for the sins of humanity. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world (1Jn 2:1-2). He became sin for us who knew no sin and by the sacrifice of himself he brought man back to God and became our sin bearer so that through the sacrifice of Jesus man can now gain access, be qualified for God’s best, obtain the divine inheritance and enjoy all that there is in God’s family. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, IT IS FINISHED: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost (Jn 19:30). The SECOND phase of his work had just been accomplished. The sacrifice has been offered, his blood has been shed and the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the whole world has been sacrificed and now taken away the sins of the whole world. Phase two of his mission has just been completed. So, he cried IT IS FINISHED! hallelujah!

  • THE JOB RAISING MANY SONS UNTO GOD BY HIS RESURRECTION

This was the third phase of the work The father had committed to Jesus that he had to finish. With his life example and the sacrifice of himself. It was needful that he rises from the dead to make it possible for MAN to access a new life the new nature at salvation. Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Rom.6:4). This final phase was what made sense of the first two. He Had to rise from the dead. The resurrection is what opened the possibility for man to also walk in NEWNESS of life… we died with him according to the scriptures. Were buried with him and now that he rose from the dead, we too rose up with him, in him. As he was born to LIFE from death, men who were dead in sin can now also be born again into a NEW LIFE with him to now Walk in NEWNESS of Life. The new creation is not a refurbished man, we are not those that have accepted religion, we are they that have been Born into the God Life, God’s family with the very life and nature of God in our spirits. Truly new creations. We now have the life that overcomes death, we are born of God. The GIFT of eternal life that God has always desired to give man has been delivered. GODS very own kind of life, this is what the resurrection accomplished for us. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life (Rom.3:23). The LIFE of God Is now available to man. Men can now walk the earth as gods. Doing supernatural things living victoriously and partaking of the Divine nature. It’s a reality made possible by the resurrection This is the record that God has given us eternal life and this life is in his son, HE that has the son has life he that has not the son has not LIFE. (1 Jn 5:12-13). Finally, the new creation has burst forth onto the scene. The righteousness of God walking the earth with the God-life, full of the spirit and operating with the boldness and audacity of the God class. This work was completed and made possible by his resurrection from the dead. IT IS FINISHED. Hallelujah!!!
